In order to make Metabase work, you need Java 6 or over. You can easily work with OpenJDK and Oracle JDK. You can save and download a JAR file inside a folder and you can run the application directly from that.
Open the terminal. You launch it with the “java -jar metabase.jar” command. Instantly, log entries are running, and you get a confirmation when the application fully started. The server is launched and uses port 3000. However, you can use any point you want with the configurations menu.
Metabase is easy to set up and you can then connect it to the database. You will get a welcome screen during the first run. Then, a window is opened where you create your admin account. After setting up the administrator account, you connect to the database. You have to enter details like port, username, password, database name, and hostname.
After you access the database, you can make many different changes. Access is very easy and you can quickly ask questions and get answers from the databases you can connect.
